As a lash artist, I’m super picky about what I use on my clients—especially around the eyes.
When I talk about cosmetic grade lash products, I’m referring to lash glue, primer, bonder, remover, and even lash shampoo that’s been specifically formulated for safe, professional use. These aren’t just any products—they’re made to meet strict cosmetic safety standards, unlike cheaper industrial alternatives.
🔍 So What Makes a Lash Product Cosmetic Grade?
1. Made Under Strict Manufacturing Standards
They’re produced in certified facilities (think: UK, EU, or USA) that follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
That means better hygiene, tighter quality control, and less risk of contamination.
2. Safer, Eye-Friendly Ingredients
No harsh stabilisers, no mystery chemicals.
If it’s glue, it’ll use cosmetic-grade cyanoacrylate, which is much cleaner and gentler on the eyes than industrial stuff.
3. Fully Compliant & Regulated
These products are properly registered with the UK’s OPSS or the EU’s CPNP, depending on where they’re made.
Brands are required to have safety data, lab reports, and stability testing before they can even sell to us.
4. Proper Labelling & Packaging
You’ll see full ingredient lists (INCI), batch numbers, expiry dates, and clear instructions.
Plus, bottles are sealed properly to protect the formula.
💡 Why It Matters (Especially for Us Lash Artists):
✅ Client Safety First – You’re working around their eyes! Cosmetic grade = fewer reactions, less irritation.
✅ Quality You Can Count On – You’ll get consistent performance every time.
✅ You Stay Covered – Using non-compliant products can actually void your insurance.
❌ Imported industrial glues might be cheaper, but they can contain unregulated chemicals and are a major risk—not worth it.
🧪 Examples of Cosmetic Grade Products I Trust:
Lash glues with clean, eye-safe ethyl cyanoacrylate (never methyl!).
Primers and bonders without harsh solvents or bulk alcohols.
Shampoos that are free from sulphates, parabens, and acrylates that don’t belong near your eyes.
