đ© Bad Lash Glue Marketing Tactics (That Weâre So Over)
Letâs cut through the noise. The lash industry is full of bold claims that sound great but mean... not much. Hereâs the real tea on what some brands are telling you â and why it doesnât hold up.
â âLatex-Freeâ
Okay, cool... but literally all lash glues have been latex-free for years now. Latex was phased out a long time ago and replaced with PMMA â a much safer alternative.
đ Fun fact: Our glue doesnât even use PMMA â weâve taken it a step further.
â âFormaldehyde-Freeâ
Another one that gets thrown around to scare people. Hereâs the truth:
No lash glue contains formaldehyde.
Itâs not added in during production â it forms in trace amounts as a by-product when the glue cures, and even then, it's barely detectable.
𧏠PS: Your own body makes small amounts of formaldehyde when you breathe. It's not the scary monster some brands want you to think it is.
â âOil-Resistantâ & âWater-Resistantâ
All cyanoacrylate-based lash glues are oil and water resistant â thatâs literally how they work.
So if a brand is bragging about it like itâs something special⊠đ§ theyâre just banking on you not knowing better.
â âWorks in 20â80% Humidityâ
Sounds impressive, right? But hereâs the truth:
ALL lash glues work in that range.
The catch? They behave very differently depending on the humidity. Higher humidity = faster cure. Lower humidity = slower cure.
So donât be fooled by a glue claiming itâs âsuper adaptableâ across wide humidity ranges. Thatâs just how cyanoacrylate works.
â âHypoallergenicâ
Letâs get this straight:
There is no regulation around the word âhypoallergenic.â Itâs a marketing term, not a medical one.
Even if a glue is labeled hypoallergenic, it can still contain common irritants and cause reactions. Allergies are personal â one client might be fine, another might not.
â Not Listing Ingredients
đ© Huge red flag.
If a brand doesnât list whatâs in their glue â why not? You have a right to know what youâre putting near your clientâs eyes.
âš At a bare minimum:
-
Black glue: should list at least 4 ingredients
-
Clear glue: at least 3 ingredients
No transparency = no trust.
â Not Saying Where Itâs Made
You deserve to know where your lash glue is being manufactured.
Is it coming from a regulated lab with proper safety testing â or some random white-label factory with no oversight?
Knowing the country of origin helps you assess quality, safety standards, and ingredient regulations.
Bottom Line?
The best lash glue brands donât need to rely on marketing fluff. Theyâre transparent, tested, and trustworthy â full stop.
At Ladybug Lashes, weâre proud to be part of the new wave of ethical lash brands that actually know their stuff and show their receipts. đ
So lash smarter, not harder â and donât fall for the buzzwords. đđ
