Why Retention Is About More Than Lash Glue

Your adhesive is important, but good retention starts before you open the bottle.

Natural oils, makeup, skincare residue, application speed, attachment, temperature and humidity can all influence your results.

That's why this system covers four different stages:

CLEAN → PREPARE → BOND → FINISH

Each product has its own job.

1. Lash Shampoo – Clean

Good preparation starts with properly cleansed natural lashes.

Our UK-made Lash Shampoo helps remove natural oils, makeup, skincare residue and everyday buildup that may otherwise interfere with adhesive attachment.

Use before a full set or infill and rinse thoroughly, making sure the natural lashes are completely clean and dry before moving on to your next preparation step.

Your Lash Shampoo also comes with a soft cleansing brush for thorough application around the lashes and lash line.

2. pH Balancer 10ml – Prepare

After cleansing, our pH Balancer helps remove light residual oils and impurities while supporting a clean, balanced lash surface before adhesive application.

Apply a small amount using a clean microbrush and allow the natural lashes to dry completely before beginning application.

The aim isn't to aggressively strip the natural lashes.

It's to clean, balance and prepare.

3. Your Choice of Cosmetic Grade Lash Adhesive – Bond

Choose the adhesive that best matches your actual application speed.

Meadow – 1–2 Seconds

Best for newly qualified or slower lash artists who need more placement time.

Spring – Approx. 1 Second

Best for intermediate and confident lash artists who want a faster cure while maintaining control.

Wildflower – 0.5–1 Second

Best for fast, confident lash artists with quick placement.

Damselfly – Approx. 0.3 Seconds

Our fastest traditional adhesive, designed for advanced lash artists with extremely fast placement.

Don't simply choose the fastest adhesive.

If your adhesive cures before you've completed your attachment, this can contribute to pop-offs. If it cures too slowly, lashes can remain mobile and increase the risk of stickies.

Choosing the right speed for you is far more important than choosing the fastest one.

4. Superbonder 10ml – Finish

Superbonder is your finishing step.

After completing your lash set, it is applied sparingly to the adhesive bonding points to support final adhesive curing and help maintain a more flexible cured bond.

Wait approximately 3 minutes after completing the set, apply a small amount using a clean microbrush, then allow approximately 2–3 minutes to dry before the client opens their eyes.

Superbonder can support a good retention routine, but it cannot compensate for poor attachment or an adhesive that is curing at the wrong speed.

Working Environment

Our traditional lash adhesives are designed to work within:

Temperature: 20–24°C (68–75°F)
Humidity: 40–70% RH
Sweet spot: Approximately 55% RH

Higher humidity will generally make cyanoacrylate adhesive cure faster.

Lower humidity will generally make it cure more slowly.

If your room humidity is particularly low and your adhesive is curing too slowly, our Low Humidity Retention Booster may also be useful.

Does the Lash Retention Trio Guarantee Better Retention?

No product system can guarantee retention.

This package gives you the products to support good cleansing, preparation, adhesive selection and finishing, but retention is also affected by:

• Your application speed
• Temperature and humidity
• Correct attachment
• Natural lash condition and cycle
• Application technique
• Client aftercare

Understanding the cause of a retention problem is always more useful than simply adding more products.

Patch Testing

Ladybug Lashes requires a patch test before using our lash adhesive on a client.

Patch testing should be completed 24–48 hours before treatment using the adhesive that will be used for the full application.

For lash-extension adhesive, our recommended method is to apply 5–10 lash extensions per eye, rather than applying adhesive directly to the skin.

A negative patch test cannot guarantee that a reaction will not occur during or after a full treatment.

Always follow any additional requirements set by your insurer.

New to Ladybug Lashes Adhesives?

If you haven't used our adhesives before, we'd recommend trying our 1g samples first.

Different formulations can feel very different to work with, even when two adhesives advertise a similar curing speed.

Trying a sample allows you to find the adhesive that suits your technique and treatment-room environment before committing to a full-size bottle.
