Korean-Inspired Lash Lift - Your Questions Answered

Korean-inspired lash lifting has become one of the most talked-about developments in professional lash lifting, but the terminology can be confusing.

The most important distinction is this: Korean-inspired vs traditional describes technique; TGA vs cysteamine describes chemistry. They are related choices, but they are not the same comparison.

How much should I charge — should it be more than a standard lash lift?

That is a business decision. The treatment may involve additional training, tools or a different working method, so some artists choose to price it differently. Others keep the same lash lift price. Base your pricing on your treatment time, product cost, training and local market rather than the word “Korean” alone.

What is the difference between Express Cysteamine and Flutter & Frame?

Express Cysteamine uses Cysteamine HCl as its primary reducing agent. Flutter & Frame is our TGA-based system.

They have different product instructions, placement guidance and processing methods. Express can be used within Korean-inspired techniques, but cysteamine itself does not make a treatment “Korean”.

Is cysteamine gentler, safer or better for sensitive clients?

Not automatically.

Cysteamine and TGA have different chemical characteristics, but the reducing agent is only one part of the formulation. Concentration, pH, processing time, hair condition, placement and correct professional use all matter.

We therefore do not describe cysteamine as universally safer, irritation-free or suitable for sensitive clients. Any professional lash lift or brow lamination product can cause irritation or sensitivity in some people.

Can Express Cysteamine Step 1 be applied across the full lash?

Yes. With Express Cysteamine, Step 1 can be applied across the full natural lash, including the tips, when used according to the product instructions and your professional training.

This is specific to the Express system. Do not assume that the same placement rule applies to every cysteamine or TGA formulation.

Can I use film?

Express Cysteamine can be used with film where directed by the treatment method.

Flutter & Frame TGA should not be occluded with film. Always follow the instructions for the exact system you are using rather than transferring one technique across to another chemistry.

Will you be discontinuing Flutter & Frame?

No. Flutter & Frame remains our TGA-based lash lift and brow lamination option, while Express Cysteamine provides a separate cysteamine-based system.

Do I need a lash lift qualification?

Yes. Korean-inspired lash lifting is an advanced technique, not a beginner lash lift qualification.

Do I have to use Powder Lift?

No. Powder Lift is an option for trained artists using a glueless Korean-inspired method with Express Cysteamine.

You can also perform treatments using Express with the placement method you have been trained in, including adhesive or balm where appropriate.

Powder Lift is designed specifically for Express Cysteamine and should not be mixed with Flutter & Frame TGA.

How often can I repeat a lash lift?

Do not base re-treatment on cysteamine being “gentle”. Assess the natural lashes, previous lift, regrowth and overall hair condition before repeating any chemical treatment.

Many clients return around the natural lash growth cycle, often approximately 6–8 weeks, but professional assessment and the product instructions should always come first. Avoid re-lifting compromised or overprocessed lashes.

Which lash shields or pads should I use?

There is no single shield that is best for every client.

Some Korean-inspired methods use a flat pad during the downward-processing stage before repositioning the lashes onto a shaping shield. Hybrid shields may also be used depending on the technique, natural lash length, growth direction, eye shape and desired result.

Do I need to patch test?

Yes. Patch testing is required 24–48 hours before treatment for the products being used, in line with the product instructions and any additional requirements from your insurer.

A negative patch test cannot guarantee that a reaction will not occur during or after treatment.

Can Express Cysteamine be used for brow lamination?

Yes. Express Cysteamine is designed for both lash lift and brow lamination treatments.

As with lash lifting, suitability should be based on the client’s hair and skin condition, contraindications, patch testing and professional assessment — not on an assumption that cysteamine is automatically “gentler” on skin.

Is every Korean lash lift a cysteamine lash lift?

No. Korean-inspired lash lifting describes a technique or treatment approach. Cysteamine is one type of reducing chemistry that may be used with that approach.

The safest way to think about it is:

• Traditional vs Korean-inspired = technique
• TGA vs cysteamine = chemistry

Always follow the instructions for the exact products you are using and work within your professional training.
