One question we see around professional lash lift products is whether airless pumps really last once they have been opened.

We've even seen brands explain that they don't offer airless pumps because, in their experience, the product doesn't remain usable for long enough after opening.

But that isn't something we've experienced with our own systems.

Both our Flutter & Frame TGA and Express Cysteamine 8ml airless pumps have a stated period of three months once opened, when stored and used correctly.

So why can experiences with airless pumps vary so much?

Does Opening an Airless Pump Make the Product Deteriorate Quickly?

Not automatically.

Airless packaging is designed to dispense product while helping reduce unnecessary exposure of the remaining contents during normal use.

That doesn't mean an airless pump preserves a cosmetic product indefinitely, and professionals should always follow the manufacturer's stated period after opening.

For our lash lift and brow lamination pumps, that is three months.

What Actually Happens as a Lash Lift Product Gets Older?

In practice, a lash lift product does not necessarily stop working overnight the moment it reaches three months.

We know that some professionals continue using products beyond this point.

What can happen, however, is that performance begins to change.

With an older lifting product, you may notice that the lashes or brows take longer to process than they did when the product was newer.

That gradual change in performance is very different from saying an airless pump suddenly becomes unusable shortly after opening.

Our stated period after opening remains three months, and that is the period we recommend professionals work within.

Why Might One Brand's Pump Last Differently From Another?

The packaging is only one part of the story.

The formulation inside the pump matters too.

Two products can both be packaged in an 8ml airless pump and still contain very different formulations.

Ingredients, formulation stability, packaging compatibility, manufacturing and recommended storage can all affect how a finished cosmetic product performs over time.

Our own experience with Flutter & Frame and Express has not shown us that airless pumps inherently become unusable shortly after opening.

We believe formulation is an important part of why our systems remain reliable throughout their stated three-month period after opening.

That doesn't mean every lash lift formulation placed into an airless pump will behave identically.

How Should Lash Lift Airless Pumps Be Stored?

Correct storage still matters.

Our Flutter & Frame and Express pumps should be stored at approximately 15 to 20°C in a cool, dry environment away from direct sunlight, heat and excessive humidity.

Keep the pumps securely closed between treatments and only dispense the amount needed.

We also recommend decanting the product required for the treatment rather than working directly from the container.

Good storage and handling help protect the product throughout its intended period of use.

What If My Pump Is Older Than Three Months?

Our recommendation is to replace it once it reaches the stated three-month period after opening.

You may hear artists say they have continued using a pump beyond this point and that it still worked.

That can happen.

But an older product may no longer perform in exactly the same way. Processing can become slower, which means you are no longer working with the performance expected during the recommended period of use.

For professional treatments, consistency matters.

That is why we recommend following the stated three-month period rather than simply continuing until the product eventually stops working.

Does This Mean Airless Pumps Are Better Than Sachets?

No.

They are simply different formats.

Airless pumps can be convenient, tidy and produce less individual packaging waste for busy artists regularly performing treatments.

Sachets can make more sense for lower-volume technicians or anyone who simply prefers using smaller quantities at a time.

That is why we offer both.

The Bottom Line

An airless pump does not automatically have a short usable life simply because it has been opened.

For Ladybug Lashes, both our Flutter & Frame TGA and Express Cysteamine airless pump systems have a stated three-month period after opening when stored and handled correctly.

After that point, a product may not suddenly stop working, but its performance can begin to change and processing may become slower.

We believe formulation matters just as much as packaging.

So when comparing lash lift systems, don't look at the container alone.

Look at the complete formulation, the manufacturer's storage instructions and the stated period after opening for the actual product you are using.
